In late 2015, Maersk Broker Bulk Chaterting became a strategic partner of Wonsild Dry in order to deliver an even better service and a wider range of products to our clients within the dry bulk sector.
The bulk market is highly volatile – and we recognise the need to have highly skilled market brokers who are specialised in all ship sizes, specific trade lanes as well as geographic areas. Our market brokers work globally from our offices in Copenhagen, London, Singapore, Beijing, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo and New Delhi together with Wonsild Dry’s offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Copenhagen, making sure that we can provide a swift and efficient service regardless of where our customers conduct their business.
Through our relationships with cargo clients and industrial end-users, we are able to effectively make the match between the cargo and the ship. By having direct links with a vast majority of the major bulk shipping players around the world, we are able to provide a truly global coverage.
In an effort to expand our dry cargo activities and to gain an even bigger foothold within the dry bulk business, Maersk Broker entered an agreement to become a majority shareholder in LANIC A/S in 2016.
LANIC A/S is a brokerage firm established in 1980 and its core competencies lie within the Handysize/Supramax segment both as with regards to spot fixing as well as long-term period commitments.
Additional service include general market information, specific and required analysis for the above segments, freight estimates, documentary as well as post fixture handling.
Maersk Broker is also a shareholder in Wonsild Dry. By taking a strategic ownership in the dry cargo activities of Wonsild we capitalize on the synergies within the dry bulk segment. This allows both organizations to offer a wider range of services within dry cargo chartering (spot, medium and long-term period business), but also within asset/project and research.
Wonsild were founded in April 1904 and their core business activities are within dry bulk chartering covering the full range from the Handysize to the Panamax segments.
